If I'd Voted, Redux
As we arrive at the final matchup in the Disney Parks attraction bracket, it’s time once more for me to share with all of you the picks that I would’ve selected throughout the entire tournament.
So, take a look.
As you’ll see, neither of my Top Two picks made it to the Top Two. That said, I did correctly line up with half of the Final Four: Pirates of the Caribbean went head-to-head with The Haunted Mansion, though in the actual matchup, the 999 happy haunts were dominant. (As I type these words, they remain extremely dominant against Kermit the Frog and friends.)
You’ll also notice that, for as much as I love the Muppets (and I do), they didn’t make it nearly so far as they have in the actual bracket. A lot of my picks were aligning with the theming and atmosphere of a given attraction, as well as the actual ride experience. Pirates, for me, even with the inclusion of Captain Jack Sparrow and other movie-based elements, is the absolute pinnacle of theme-park design. Some of my other choices, all the way up to the Jungle Cruise, also may signal to you that I’m not a huge thrill-ride person. I like some of them (and Disney, for those who may not know, has very tame thrill rides compared to Universal or Six Flags) but I don’t love them the same way I love the immersive feeling you get with slower, longer attractions.
But again: it wasn’t my call. Such is life! Tomorrow, here and on Twitter, I’ll unveil the Disney live-action movies bracket. For now, if you haven’t done so yet, vote!
