Let's Vote Again
So the bracket of Walt Disney Animation Studios films has wrapped up, and our victor is indeed one of the great Disney films, Beauty and the Beast. The 1991 classic, as much as I love it, wouldn’t have been my pick, but it’s very close to the very best. And while Who Framed Roger Rabbit wouldn’t have made it to my personal Final Four, it made an impressive showing, vanquishing almost all comers.
And now, because there is no rest for the wicked and we’re all stuck in our houses still, we’re going to do another bracket, entirely of songs from Disney animated films.
Here’s the bracket.
Now, I’m sure there will be a few broken hearts out there, either because I left off your favorite song or because I’ve pitted it against an impossible foe or something else. Such is life.
The rules for qualification, unlike with our last bracket, are very simple: the song has to be from an in-canon Disney animated film. No Pixar, no outliers like Mary Poppins, and no animated films like A Goofy Movie, which may have memorable songs but isn’t a title from the official Walt Disney Animation Studios canon.
And you’ll note that not every Disney animated film is represented here. As much as possible, I’ve tried to make it so some films only have a couple songs included, but there are some challenging decisions to make even there. How many songs from, say, The Little Mermaid do I include, and which do I cut?
As with our last bracket, we’ll start today with a group of 4 matchups, until we get to the Sweet Sixteen.
Now, it’s on you. Go vote!
