Once More Into the Fray
They say there’s no rest for the weary, and so it goes for me as well. No matter what our leaders would like to tell us, we’re still stuck in a massive global pandemic with no end in sight. And while it’s right to be angry and focused on those major stories, it’s OK to have the tiniest little outlet of relief. I have no idea for how many of you these brackets may serve as that relief, but if the answer is more than zero, then I’m happy.
And speaking of happy, I’m happy to unveil the latest bracket, focusing on Disney’s live-action movies. Take a look.
So, as I mentioned on Twitter when unveiling this bracket, I want to reiterate a few points. First of all, you’re not going to see any Marvel movies or Star Wars movies in this bracket. Part of it is that there are so many of these films combined that I would’ve only ended up choosing a couple. Part of it is that I might decide to put the MCU/Lucasfilm titles into their own bracket. And part of it is that I…just didn’t want to. They’re Disney movies, yes. And they have some element of live-action (though there’s plenty of computer animation of a sort in these titles). But…yeah, I’m good.
The same goes for many of the remakes of animated films. A few of them are here, but less because I love these films (Pete’s Dragon [2016] is the exception) than because they’re big enough to include. Alice in Wonderland is just a really easy 16 seed, and I will gladly make fun of anyone who votes for it. Opinions are subjective, and also, that movie is garbage.
As has been the case, the next eight days will feature four matchups each, as we slowly whittle 64 titles down to 32. I hope you’re enjoying the brackets as much as I am. (There will be more of them.)
