The Disney Parks Live-Entertainment Bracket -- Round Three, Day One
It's time to sit around the fire, friends.
Are you as happy that it’s the weekend as I am? Because, friend, am I happy it is the goddamn weekend. (Where’s that clip of Daniel Craig saying it’s weekend when you need it? Oh, it’s right here.)
Anyway, Benoit Blanc and his antics aside, it’s time for us to dive into Round Three of the Disney Parks Live-Entertainment bracket. We’re now in the Sweet Sixteen, which means that it’s down to just two matchups per day here. The choices are getting harder, I’m sure, but that’s just how the bracket shakes out. Remember, while you can check out the full playlist for the round here, you can also click on the unique video links below if you need help. So let’s dive right into it.
(1) Main Street Electrical Parade vs. (12) Disneyland Band: I admire the fact that two different daytime entertainment options, the Disneyland Band and the Dapper Dans, have made it this far into the bracket. And, at the same time, I believe that their respective journeys end here.
That’s OK, though! It’s not just that I don’t think you’ll vote for them, because honestly…well, I would not vote for the Disneyland Band over the Main Street Electrical Parade, which has been a distinctively off-kilter (at least musically) show since it started in the 1970s. Few things say Disneyland more than this nighttime show, so it’s an easy choice for me. How about you?
(2) IllumiNations vs. (3) Golden Horseshoe Revue: This is a slightly tougher choice for me, but only slightly. Again, I love a good nighttime show, and IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth is the finest one Epcot has ever had. Is it possible the park can ever pull off a better one than this? …Well, sure. Anything’s possible. I could win the lottery tonight! But, y’know, not terribly likely. The Golden Horseshoe Revue is a delightfully corny and funny show (or, was, rather), but it cannot hold a globe to IllumiNations.
