Can you believe we’re already halfway through the third round of the Disney Theme-Park Background Music bracket? And that we’re halfway through the third season of Ted Lasso? Fun fact: a few of these hourlong background loops you can listen to in the post are almost as long as some of this season’s episodes of the Apple TV+ sitcom! I…sure wish that wasn’t true! (I like Ted Lasso well enough, but for the expansion of stories this season, it’s not resulting in better quality. If you ask me.)
Anyway, enough chitchat. Let’s get to the vote!
(1) Main Street USA loop vs. (13) Frontierland - Disneyland loop: If there is a tough match in the Elite Eight, I think it’s this one. Main Street, U.S.A. is a quintessential part of the Disney theme-park experience, and that probably makes it enough to win this matchup. But the Frontierland loop has immense charm as well, and there are some classic standbys amidst the queue loop you can listen to below.
How do you vote?
Main Street USA
Frontierland - Disneyland
(7) Animal Kingdom Lodge loop vs. (14) Carousel of Progress Suite loop: For me, at least, this is an easy matchup. If social media is any indication, then the mid-century vibe of architecture and atmosphere is apparently making a comeback. If nothing else, the music of the Carousel of Progress Suite very much lives up to that sensibility. I like the Animal Kingdom Lodge loop, and it can be a very lengthy way to relax. But there is an almost soaring quality to the music of the Carousel of Progress, at least in the laid-back riffs on the Shermans’ theme as evidenced in the below audio, a quality that very much vaults it over the top for me.
But that’s me. What do you think?
Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village
Carousel of Progress Suite
It’s probably going to end in the next round, but the Carousel of Progress Suite has had a heck of a run in this bracket, and a well-deserved one at that. Cheers to the Sherman brothers.
