The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round Three, Day Two
I think someone left the shower running!
Today, before kicking off another set of matchups in the third round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket, I want to come clean about something to all of you. Would you believe it, but I miss Twitter? “Don’t you mean X, Josh?” No, my good friend Robert Iger, I don’t mean X, because that refers to either the antepenultimate letter of the alphabet or the eventual prequel to the story of Xander Cage before he got all three of his X’s.
Anyway, I miss Twitter. I miss what it was, by which I mean I miss that I could do these brackets in tweets, as opposed to newsletter posts. Now, I like the newsletter, and I am glad we’re building out our own little community here. But you and I both know Twitter was easier. But hey, what tech genius hasn’t ruined what people like in the name of disruption and innovation and other stupid buzzwords!
I’m grouchy. (Can you tell?) But let’s move on to something that might make all of you grouchy instead — chaotic Disney votes!
(2) Soarin’ over California vs. (15) Enchanted Tiki Room (WDW): Would I vote for Soarin’ over California if it faced off against the Disneyland version of the Enchanted Tiki Room? Who’s to say? Would I vote for Soarin’ if it was the new version as opposed to the original? Oh, I would not. But the vote here is between the California-themed Soarin’ ride and the Walt Disney World version of the Tiki Room, and so, I vote with my man Patrick Warburton.
How do you all vote?
Soarin’ over California
Enchanted Tiki Room (WDW)
(7) Space Mountain (DL) vs. (55) Toy Story Mania (WDW): One reason I miss using Twitter is that I could do quick tiebreaker polls when needed, and I did need to revive Twitter polls for that very reason earlier this week. (This is my days-late way of saying I realized that I put a typo in the tiebreaker poll and had you vote for the Orlando version of Toy Story Mania. But it was supposed to be the DCA version! Alas.)
Anyway, this one’s Space Mountain. An all-timer must move onto the fourth round, yes?
Space Mountain (DL)
Toy Story Mania (WDW)
(3) Rise of the Resistance vs. (14) It’s A Small World (WDW): Rise of the Resistance is, of course, very new. While I am not a huge fan of how Star Wars has taken over so much of the Disneyland apparatus in particular, I cannot deny that this ride is a remarkable feat of Imagineering. (That said, I wish I had written down the exact way the Imagineers tried to shrug off the fact that there is a Star Wars ride in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, but…also a Star Wars land in Disneyland. I believe they tried to pull the old “Well, the movies do say they’re set a long time ago” and give me a goddamn break with that.)
Enough of my blather! Vote now to kick the dolls from Disney World out! …Right?
Rise of the Resistance
It’s A Small World (WDW)
(59) Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure vs. (22) Cinderella Castle: I have not experienced Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure yet, but I’m voting for it here because…well, listen, it’s a ride and the Cinderella Castle — as remarkably huge as it is — is not a ride. It’s that simple.
But that’s just me. How about you?
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Cinderella Castle
Again with the hard choices.
I agree with below. I voted castle; Remy should/could be so much better. There’s literally (long) parts you’re just sitting in front of a screen. That’s it, that’s the 45 minute thing you’ve been waiting for. Love the space expansion in France but I’d do almost any ride in Epcot over that one.
