Good morning, everyone! I hope you’re raring to go with another quartet of matchups in the early days of the first round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket. Because that’s what I have for you today. (Plus, a clarifying point on one potential question you may have had that I didn’t answer yesterday.)
Ready? Let’s go!
(8) Peter Pan’s Flight (WDW) vs. (57) Flight to the Moon/Mission to Mars: Listen, there’s not much doubt here, is there? I presume that Peter Pan’s Flight is going to walk away with this one, hands (and sails) down. I do want to note that, if you were curious, the answer is yes: some of the attractions in this overall first-round bracket are old/defunct rides, not just those you can currently experience. But the Flight to the Moon/Mission to Mars ain’t long for this world, I imagine.
How do you vote?
Peter Pan’s Flight (WDW)
Flight to the Moon/Mission to Mars
(25) Tarzan’s Treehouse vs. (40) Mickey’s House: Here, too, is a case where we can clarify that attractions that no longer exist are part of the matches. And here, too, we are bidding goodbye to such an attraction. Well, fair is fair: I think we can safely assume that of the previous matchup, but I am admittedly guessing here. I’d vote for Mickey’s House, in part because there is a character meet-and-greet at the end of that walking trail. In Tarzan’s Treehouse, as much as I like the Adventureland vibe, it’s not quite as exciting in its climax. So Mickey gets my vote.
What about you?
Tarzan’s Treehouse
Mickey’s House
(9) Na’Vi River Journey vs. (56) Main Street Vehicles (WDW): I like the notion of the Main Street Vehicles, but I’ve still never actually ridden them at either Disneyland or Walt Disney World. It’s a nice concept, though! Shame about it in this matchup, because we all know the Na’Vi River Journey is winning it, right?
Na’Vi River Journey
Main Street Vehicles (WDW)
(24) Tomorrowland Speedway vs. (41) Enchanted Tales with Belle: Here, again, is a case where I vote not so much for one option as I vote against an option. And I, as an aforementioned Tall Person, will be voting against the Tomorrowland Speedway. Those cars are not made for the tall. Enchanted Tales with Belle is not amazing, but it’s also not physically uncomfortable, so it gets my vote.
Tomorrowland Speedway
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Appreciate seeing one of Martin Smith’s attraction videos here. His work, especially for historic rides, is essential theme park viewing.
No kid ever dragged their parent to see Enchanted Belle as soon as it opened, or insisted they get to do it one more time before the park closed. A vote against Tomorrowland Speedway is a vote against children having fun. That’s my hill. (And I, too, am tall)
