The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round Two, Day Ten
Ready for the eighth wonder of the world?
Happy Hump Day, friends! It’s time for yet another set of matchups in the second round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket. I’m still mentally unwinding from last night’s screening of Oppenheimer (in IMAX and 70mm, natch) — at least, I presume I am, because I am typing these words a few days before seeing the film — but let’s dive into the vote, shall we?
(4) Jungle Cruise (DL) vs. (29) Jessie’s Critter Carousel: A nice and easy matchup to start today’s post, because there’s no way that the Jungle Cruise is losing this one. It wouldn’t matter if we were talking about the Anaheim or Orlando version, either. It’s a simple vote.
Jungle Cruise (DL)
Jessie’s Critter Carousel
(13) Tomorrowland Transit Authority vs. (20) Kali River Rapids: This will be another easy vote, I think. I know not everyone loves Grizzly River Run, but I think most of us are willing to acknowledge that Kali River Rapids (the Orlando rushing-rapids ride that is awfully similar in scope and theme) is a lot weaker. The PeopleMover, though, is a hit every time.
How do you vote?
Tomorrowland Transit Authority
Kali River Rapids
(5) Test Track vs. (37) Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular: This one might be a bit tougher for some of us. I am going to lean in favor of the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular over Test Track. First of all, we voted yesterday on whether or not to send Radiator Springs Racers forward, a ride that is very similar to Test Track in design even if not in its theme. (As I type these words, I can only assume that Radiator Springs Racers won.) Second, I just like the idea of live stunt performers still being a thing at the Disney theme parks. And it’s Indiana Jones. You can’t say no to Indy, at least not yet.
What do you think?
Test Track
Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
(12) Pirates of the Caribbean (WDW) vs. (21) Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin: I know I’ve already clarified that the Orlando version of Pirates of the Caribbean is not as strong as its Anaheim counterpart (if for no other reason than the Anaheim version is about twice as long). But against the Orlando version of a Buzz Lightyear shooter ride, the rum-fuddled looters of the Caribbean are going to win easily, as they should.
How do you vote?
Pirates of the Caribbean (WDW)
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
I love the Indy attraction, so I'm glad it's winning (as of this post). I expected it to lose.
One of my favorite Disney memories is:
After going to see the Indiana Jones Stunt spectacular multiple times as a child, I finally went to WDW as an 18 year old with my mom and younger siblings. The “lack of repeatability” got to most of my family, but not me and my youngest brother. We went to see the stunt spectacular and I was chosen from the crowd to be one of the extras. I couldn’t stop smiling even when we were supposed to be outrunning bad guys. My youngest brother got the whole thing on tape and it is glorious.
