The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round Two, Day Three
...and these little beauties.
Hello, friends! The big day is here! Why, it’s the biggest day of the year, and we’re still in the middle of July. I am, of course, referring to the official opening day for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. In spite of that mouthful of a title (and my distaste for no grammatical break between “Reckoning” and “Part”), I am here to tell you that this movie is the best thing I have seen this summer, and I have seen Across the Spider-Verse.
OK, I am also here to share some new matchups in the second round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket. Let’s get to them!
(2) Soarin’ over California vs. (31) Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree: A real easy matchup to start our day, because I am going to presume that anyone voting for Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree a) has specific nostalgia rooted in family memories or b) is trolling me and all of the rest of us. Soarin’ for the win.
Soarin’ over California
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree
(15) Enchanted Tiki Room (WDW) vs. (47) Mickey’s PhilharMagic (DCA): This one is slightly tougher for me, in that I very much enjoy Mickey’s PhilharMagic. However, the DCA version has the unfortunate and dubious honor of having replaced the absolutely wonderful Muppet*Vision 3D, and the theater space isn’t quite as well suited for Mickey and Donald and their specific shenanigans. And the Tiki Room — even though I like the Anaheim version more for its use of space — is the Tiki Room. But that’s just me voting for the Audio-Animatronic birds.
How do you vote?
Enchanted Tiki Room (WDW)
Mickey’s PhilharMagic (DCA)
(7) Space Mountain (DL) vs. (39) Flights of Wonder: Another easy choice today, because even though I do remember enjoying the real birds at the center of Flights of Wonder, Space Mountain is a justly beloved attraction. It’s going to take this one easily, and it should.
Space Mountain (DL)
Flights of Wonder
(55) Toy Story Mania (WDW) vs. (42) Ellen’s Energy Adventure: If it wasn’t for the fact that Universe of Energy is still kicking (and you can vote for that attraction tomorrow), I might push for Ellen’s Energy Adventure to win. As it is, the original Energy pavilion is more my speed, and I kind of enjoy the version of Toy Story Mania (no more “Midway” in the title) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, if only for its largely indoor queuing area.
How do you all vote?
Toy Story Mania (WDW)
Ellen’s Energy Adventure
Having just been to DLP/DCA, I'm over the "move somewhere, shoot at video games" attraction format. Midway Mania and Spider-Man are both pretty meh. Astro Blasters is showing its age but at least you've got great animatronic work.
I abstained from the Toy Story/Ellen vote--my first abstain since the brackets moved here! My vendetta against Woody may be personal, but I almost made an exception and voted for him because there was no way in Hell I was voting for Ellen.
