The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round Two, Day Seven
Welcome, foolish mortals.
We’re just about halfway through the month of July, and we’re also just about halfway through the second round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket! I can’t believe it either — we’re almost at the point of this bracket where it’s back down to the slightly more manageable 64 seeds. But not quite yet.
Who’s ready for some more matchups? Let’s dive right in.
(2) Space Mountain (WDW) vs. (34) Citizens of Buena Vista Street: A truly easy matchup; while I love Buena Vista Street and the streetmosphere performers, Space Mountain is unbeatable no matter which version you’re voting on. (At least, unbeatable for now.)
Space Mountain (WDW)
Citizens of Buena Vista Street
(15) Peter Pan’s Flight (DL) vs. (47) 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarine Voyage: I look forward to bidding adieu to Peter Pan in the next round. For now, because I’m still not a huge fan of the claustrophobic-submarine experience whether it’s got Nemo the fish or Nemo the human, I’ll vote for the flying pirate ships.
How about you?
Peter Pan’s Flight (DL)
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarine Voyage
(7) The Great Movie Ride vs. (39) The Living Seas: It’s not that I don’t have some wistful longing for a version of The Living Seas without that pesky Nemo the fish (Back again, the dastardly fellow!). But you can still experience some version of the dark ride plus aquarium at Epcot today, whereas The Great Movie Ride is gone for good. I wish the ride had undergone some updates, true, but not “Let’s remove it entirely”-style updates. I miss that ride dearly.
But that’s me — how do you vote?
The Great Movie Ride
The Living Seas
(10) The Haunted Mansion (WDW) vs. (23) Electrical Water Pageant: This one’s only a bit difficult because I very much enjoy the experience of the Electrical Water Pageant on a calm and relaxing evening near the Seven Seas Lagoon. But just as Space Mountain is unbeatable on either coast in a matchup in this round, so too is The Haunted Mansion.
What do you say?
The Haunted Mansion (WDW)
Electrical Water Pageant
The Great Movie ride pretty much single-handedly ignited my interest in classic film. I miss it, too.
As charmed as I am by Peter Pan, I went with the grubby, drippy, claustrophobic environment of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It was those very characteristics that made it stand out to me as a child. Disney was all bright colors and happy faces (the original Snow White ride aside), and those were a lot of fun. But the seven year-old me believed that I was in a submarine, traveling through the ocean and having adventures. Back then the attraction was fairly new and well-maintained. The fishing lines keeping parts of the attraction in place weren't loaded with algae. When the tentacles encircled the craft, I believed the hull was about to be breached, and my heart raced as we tried to make it back to the surface. So sorry, the cartoonish floating pirate ship didn't stand a chance.
