Yesterday, we had some tough matchups, and I was glad to not have to vote. Today’s matchups…well, I have no idea how you’ll all vote, but they’re all pretty easy to me.
But I am always open to you surprising me, so scroll down to start making your voice heard.
(2) Michael Caine, The Muppet Christmas Carol vs. Ed Asner, Up: There may well come a point where I vote against Michael Caine in these matchups, but that point has not yet arrived. I’m sure I don’t have to ask you if he’s moving on, either.
(7) Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean vs. (10) James Earl Jones, Return of the Jedi: James Earl Jones is up for two votes today, and if I had to guess, this is the one he’s surely going to lose. I’d vote for Johnny Depp in the first Pirates of the Caribbean, for sure. But how about you?
(3) Joan Cusack, Toy Story 2 vs. (46) Ming-Na Wen, Mulan: At least one great voice performance will move on today, and for me, it’s very much the one provided by Joan Cusack in Toy Story 2. No question.
(6) James Earl Jones, The Lion King vs. (11) Christopher Lloyd, Who Framed Roger Rabbit: So, if it’s up to me, I would actually vote out both of Jones’ voice performances identified in today’s post. James Earl Jones’ voice is memorably stentorian and powerful as Mufasa, but he arguably only has a couple of notes to play. Christopher Lloyd is playing around with two notes as well, but they are drastically different, and watching him shift from one taciturn extreme to a more insane one is pretty remarkable. I vote for Lloyd.
How about you?
The only one I hedged on was Mufasa vs. Doom. I went with Doom eventually. I voted for Mulan because, as you know, Jessie gets on my last damn nerve. I'll continue to vote against her. Of course, she will probably wind up in a bracket with Woody....and then I'll break the unbreakable rule I've held for ALL of your brackets!
I feel like 3 out of 4 will be super close today
