Hello, friends! I see you. You know what I mean? I mean, I see you. (Did I see a certain very expensive new movie last night, in 3D, and in Dolby Vision, and in Dolby Cinema, and in high frame rate? Maybe.) Anyway, now that we once again live in a world where one New York baseball team keeps its big star around forever — not the right team, but such is life — it’s time to continue ahead with the second-round polls. No dilly-dallying, no shilly-shallying — let’s have a vote on it now!
(1) Fantasmic (DL) vs. (8) Voyage of the Little Mermaid: Voyage of the Little Mermaid has one (1) thing going for it that Fantasmic does not: indoor seating. (Please note that you are voting on the Disneyland version of Fantasmic. The Walt Disney World version is also outdoors, but at least there are bleachers.) That is, of course, not enough to help it out. I think we all know what’s winning here.
But if you do believe Ariel has a chance, you have…some imagination, huh? (Get it? Do you—do you get the reference? Watch Fantasmic, then you will.)
(4) Voices of Liberty vs. (5) Happily Ever After: This is, for me, another no-brainer. Voices of Liberty is an incredible a cappella group that manages to be as broadly patriotic as Walt Disney himself would have desired, and they embody — as much as The American Adventure itself — so much of the Disney theme-park ethos with every note they hit. Easy vote here, I say.
(2) Finding Nemo The Musical vs. (7) Casey’s Corner Ragtime Pianist: Both of these are musical options, but even in its newer form, I gotta go with Finding Nemo The Musical. Again, it’s hard to beat indoor seating plus a decently mounted stage show. (Of the various musical options that the two big American resorts offer, this is very high on my list.) But will ragtime mount a comeback? That’s up to you.
(3) Electrical Water Pageant vs. (6) The Osborne Lights: Lights, lights everywhere, and not a thing to see. Or something like that. Anyway, while these are both somewhat similar, and it is the holiday season, I am sticking with the Electrical Water Pageant. If there is a potential dark-horse-ish candidate, I suppose it could be the Osborne Lights, but I have learned of the way of water recently (because…the new Avatar…well, you’ll see) and so I vote in that direction. You?
I’m also sticking with the Electrical Water Pageant, even if it’s primarily for its charming origin story. How what was supposed to be a one-time thank you to WDW resort guests on its first evening became a tradition that has stuck around 51 years later and counting.
