Being indoors is one of Voyage of the Little Mermaid’s strengths, but I think it’s superior to the Beauty and the Beast show in every way, even if it’s also not great. There’s cool puppet work for “Under the Sea”, Ursula’s animatronic is cool, and I also like the light work for “Poor Unfortunate Souls”, and it ends with a Max fur character who’s the best boy.
But for me, the main reason I prefer VOTLM to BATBLOS is that it at least recognizes itself as a revue, while the BATB show tries WAY too hard to cram an hour and a half of story into less than 30 minutes of show and only paces the brilliant soundtrack in a weird way. It also just looks cheaper, but maybe that’s just me.

Happily Ever After should absolutely lay waste to the competition.
I’m sad to hear ‘Marcel’ was disappointing. I adore the shorts and was really looking forward to it!
