The Disney Parks Live-Entertainment Bracket -- Round Two, Day One
Who's ready for some new polls?
Good morning, friends! We’ve moved onto the second round of the Disney Parks Live-Entertainment bracket, as the headline suggests. While I imagine the possibilities of the New York Mets signing a pitcher who is younger than me (I’m happy with the Verlander signing, but…get some young guys!), I want to point you two places. The first place is here, where you can find the full playlist of second-round live-entertainment options.
The second place? Why, it’s right below where you’re reading these words. If you haven’t subscribed to the newsletter yet, you should! If you don’t, you can’t vote in the polls, and that would just be silly. Do it!
(1) Main Street Electrical Parade vs. (9) Wonderful World of Animation: Some of these matchups, as I quickly scan through what the second-round battles are, will be extremely easy. I don’t know yet that I would say the Main Street Electrical Parade is going to be my ride-or-die option as we dive into the future rounds. But in this specific matchup, there’s no question for me that the Baroque Hoedown gets my vote. Because, as a wise clock once said, if it’s not Baroque, don’t fix—[is beaten up with sticks].
(13) Citizens of Main Street vs. (12) Disneyland Band: If there is a truly challenging matchup today for me, it’s this one. Two staples of the Disney parks, two daytime options (in a sense), and two sets of very talented performers. I will lean here, as you can tell from the photo, with the Disneyland Band. Blame it on my past as a marching-band performer myself (though only in high school and never with remotely the same level of talent as these musicians), but I gotta stick with the band.
(2) IllumiNations vs. (7) Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular: You know, I love the Indiana Jones movies. I am a huge fan of the character, and I love practical stunts in action filmmaking. Nothing against the Epic Stunt Spectacular, which is both epic and also probably a little long in the tooth at this point. But as was the case above, this is an easy matchup. IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth is about as close as I’ll get to the aforementioned ride-or-die show. It is nighttime perfection. No question.
(3) Golden Horseshoe Revue vs. (6) Pixar Play Parade: While I enjoy the Pixar Play Parade, I cannot deny that the old-school Golden Horseshoe Revue, from the era of Donald Novis (who die-hard animation fans may also know from his performance of “Love is a Song” in Bambi) and Wally Boag, is just extremely funny and corny in the right ways. This could be a tougher choice for some of you than for me, but I’m sticking with Pecos Bill and the Golden Horseshoe.
Brutal seeding for the stunt show, a ride-or-die of mine if ever I had one!
Looks like Harrison Ford gets to at least retire from something.
