The Disney Theme-Park Background Music Bracket -- Round Two, Day Three
Rockin' right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A.
Can you believe we’re halfway through the second round of the Disney Theme-Park Background Music bracket? I can’t either, especially since we will — to remind you — take a brief pause after this round wraps in a couple more days due to travel.
After these matches, we’ll be even closer to that break, so let’s start voting!
(1) Main Street USA loop vs. (8) The Living Seas loop: Main Street USA is Main Street USA. It’s perhaps the pinnacle of the Disney themed experience. It’s no surprise, then, that based on those two sentences, I’m going to vote for that loop over the Living Seas loop, as calming as the latter can be. Walkin’ right down the middle of Main Street is something too irresistible to ignore.
Main Street USA
The Living Seas
(13) Frontierland - Disneyland loop vs. (12) Great Movie Ride queue loop: I will be siding here with the Frontierland loop. You might find, if you have enough of an ear for it, that a number of the pieces within that loop are Western-themed, thus allowing for some similarities between this and the Great Movie Ride queue loop. Nothing against that broader medley, but sometimes, you feel like relaxing amidst the wide open spaces and vistas of the American plains…at least aurally.
But how do you vote?
Frontierland - Disneyland
Great Movie Ride
(2) Carthay Circle Restaurant loop vs. (7) Animal Kingdom Lodge loop: Carthay Circle Restaurant has been a great location at which to eat (though I am arguably a bit less impressed with their scaled-down menu compared with what it used to be), and the jazzy music is a big part of helping amplify its atmosphere. The Animal Kingdom Lodge loop, specific to Kidani Village, has its strengths, but I will go with the jazzbos here. (Jazzbos is a word, right?)
Carthay Circle Restaurant
Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village
(14) Carousel of Progress Suite loop vs. (6) The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh loop: Now, listen. I must tell you that I have been mildly dismayed by some of the results in this round. I don’t mean to suggest that some of you are voting incorrectly, but…well, some of you are letting me down, at the very least. Carousel of Progress is an underrated attraction that still lives on today at Walt Disney World, and this loop of 30 minutes, comprising a series of mid-century melodic takes on the Sherman Brothers’ theme, is better than the music of the Winnie the Pooh shorts that…the Sherman brothers also wrote.
I know they’re winning here one way or the other, but come on. Vote for progress.
Carousel of Progress Suite
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
I'm sure I will continue to let you down as I am forced to vote for any classic Epcot music.
