The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round One, Day Eight
Time for some true voices of liberty.
It’s another Monday, and this summer, that means it’s another day full of matchups in the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket. Time’s a-wastin’, so let’s head right to the votes!
(6) The American Adventure vs. (59) Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: It’s a battle between America and France, Mark Twain and a rat, Epcot and…Epcot. I will again note that seeding is not automatically a commentary on quality, while also noting that I would vote for the higher-seeded attraction here. Yes, I know that Remy is likely going to reign supreme here, but I’m sticking with — love ‘em or leave ‘em, he said glibly — the good ol’ U.S. of A. (Seriously, I very much enjoy The American Adventure, even as I acknowledge that it is a wildly idealistic view of a very complex country, in distilling its history to a few key, flattering points.)
How do you vote?
The American Adventure
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
(27) Alien Swirling Saucers vs. (38) World of Motion: Two attractions I’ve never experienced here, and I will make two points. First, I’m not a huge fan of spinning attractions, which is a large part of why I’m voting for World of Motion. Second, I cannot get over that the acronym of Alien Swirling Saucers would be ASS. (Is that just a Me Thing? Probably. Now it is also a You Thing.)
How do you vote?
Alien Swirling Saucers
World of Motion
(11) Universe of Energy vs. (54) Burudika: The old stuff wins out sometimes, and it’ll be no different for me here. (“But Josh,” you are thinking, “Burudika is also old now that it is closed!” Hush.) The old-school Universe of Energy, which lives on only in our memories and YouTube videos, gets my vote.
How about you?
Universe of Energy
Burudika
(22) Cinderella Castle vs. (43) The Osborne Lights: I gather that when it was running, the Osborne Lights display at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was quite the experience. And it sure looks charming! But the Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World — which, for some of us, may encompass a dining experience, but not for me and not for this specific vote — is a genuinely grand and awe-inspiring sight to walk through even if it’s just to stop in a gift shop. The castle gets my vote.
Cinderella Castle
The Osborne Lights
I love the ride mechanics of ASS (lol) which are the same as Mater's Junkyard Jamboree at DCA. If they face each other Mater will win for me (hearing Larry the Cable Guy (or an impersonater) give the safety speech in Spanish is something everyone should enjoy at least once in their life), but in this match up its definitely Aliens
Justice for The American Adventure!
