The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round One, Day Twenty-Eight

It's your last game (again)!

Hey, friends. I hope you had an enjoyable July Fourth weekend/holiday/day of the week (if you’re not in the States). As noted, the brackets took a couple days off for the holiday, so it’s time to dive right back in with some new matchups in the first round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket.

Let’s go!

(5) Toy Story Midway Mania (DCA) vs. (60) Casey Jr. Splash ‘n’ Soak Station: An easy, easy choice for me. Splash pads and their ilk is a) a phrase I did not expect to type before today and b) not a thing I particularly enjoy too much. But even if I did, Toy Story Midway Mania, as it’s still called at Disney California Adventure, is just a lot of fun. Am I the type of shameless nerd to fist-pump when he sees that his score is the high score of the vehicle?

(28) Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride (WDW) vs. (37) Tom Sawyer Island: So, I’m voting for Tom Sawyer Island — the Magic Kingdom one, please note — here. It’s not that I don’t like Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, but I already can experience that attraction at Disneyland. “But Josh, can’t you also experience Tom Sawyer Island in some form at Disneyland?”

I can! But I like Mark Twain more than I like Mr. Toad. (Another sentence I didn’t think I’d type before today.) Anyway, what do you think?

(12) GOTG Mission Breakout vs. (53) Circle-Vision 360: I like to think I am a relatively honest person when it comes to these brackets. To wit: I do not enjoy anything about Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout!. I do not enjoy its grammatically headache-inducing title, I do not enjoy that it replaced the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, I do not enjoy the visual aesthetics of the building from the outside, and so on.

I don’t like it. I have no doubt it will win this matchup. I’m a realist. But I’m pulling for the old Circle-Vision 360 theater from Disneyland to pull off an unbelievable upset.

(21) Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid vs. (44) Red Car Trolley: I have already shared my mild displeasure with the Little Mermaid attraction at Disney California Adventure. I believe — and I have to emphasize that I don’t know this for a fact as I have not experienced the attraction myself since it opened — that the Magic Kingdom version in Orlando is…basically the same as the one in Anaheim? Just a new title? I’m Ron Burgundy?

Seriously, though, since I’m not a huge fan of how the DCA version peters out, I will pull here for the Red Car Trolley, which does what you expect it to do in full. No disappointments there.
