I used to work at Disney and my friend worked at the Great Movie Ride. At the scene when the ride gets hijacked and he goes off stage for a bit, he ran into a door that was supposed to be open (it’s dark where they go offstage). He broke his nose. Blood everywhere.
So the scene where the host comes back and goes, “remember me?!” was very confusing to the riders because it was not him and was a woman.
Not only were the riders confused, but his family was visiting and happened to be on that ride. His four year old nephew starts hysterically crying because he thought Uncle Ricky was kidnapped.
Living With The Land deserves your vote if only for being the last remaining opening day Future World attraction that is essentially unchanged (along with maybe Spaceship Earth, which has seen multiple changes over the years, all of which did at least maintain the spirit of the original).
Space Mountain WDW is the Mr Pibb to DLR’s Dr Pepper. Less iconic walk up, less comfortable ride vehicle, no cool spinning effect before the launch, jerkier ride, less cool music, no real overlays. Not a must do at WDW.
Only thing it has going for it is that it’s the original Space Mountain. But I totally agree the DL version is way better since they rebuilt the track.
Cast members are underpaid and receive far too much crap from tourists.
With that said, the cast members made ALL the difference on great movie ride. My first experience was unreal with the cast member really into it. Many other subsequent ones: “oh no a bank robber….”
Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder but honestly the WDW queue is overrated, long, dark, narrow, and dated/in disrepair. The anticipation of entering the DLR showroom, walking down the ramp around the spaceship builds far more anticipation of wondering whether you’ll get alpha or omega track.
Cast members are unpaired and receive far too much crap from tourists.

Anyway, that’s my favorite movie ride story.
Living With the Land needs to be a slam dunk here friends.
We are definitely in “you’re a monster” territory now, Josh.

I agree with everything but the walk up- WDW’s queue is much better than DLR’s. Otherwise DLR’s Space Mountain is the clear winner.

Huge difference.

RIP Great Movie Ride.
