The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round One, Day Thirty-One
P-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-please!
Friends, we are so close to the second round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket that I can almost taste it. It’s true! I can also taste sound and color, and maybe I need to go to a doctor for these unique problems.
We’re also a couple days away from me kicking off the paid-subscription option for this newsletter, so keep an eye out for that. (As a note/reminder, these bracket posts will never, ever cost you. Well, they may cost you your sanity, but I don’t accept bills for that.)
For now, we have 120 attractions in our second round, waiting for 8 more to join them. Four of those 8…well, it’s up to you to decide today. Let’s go!
(3) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (WDW) vs. (62) Games of Pixar Pier: It’s nice to see my kids enjoy winning the carnival-style Games of Pixar Pier, but it’s less nice to have to pay so much for what feel like chintzy toys.
Also, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Come on.

(30) Golden Horseshoe Revue vs. (35) Billy Hill and the Hillbillies: Isn’t it wild that you can just go to YouTube, enter in the title of certain episodes of the Walt Disney anthology series (it’s had many names in its seven-decade history), and some intrepid users have posted them in full? Isn’t it wild that you go to YouTube for that and not Disney+? How come, My Good Friend Bob Iger?
Anyway. Never settle for less than the original Golden Horseshoe Revue. That’s my vote. How about you?

(14) Pinocchio’s Daring Journey vs. (51) The Magic Carpets of Aladdin: To me, this one’s simple. Pinocchio’s Daring Journey is not a perfect dark-ride, but it is the only one of its kind in the United States. You can only experience it at Disneyland. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is…I mean, it is technically the only of its kind in the U.S., but it’s an awful lot like Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Just with spitting camels.
Pinocchio and an actor’s life for me.

(19) Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin vs. (46) Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom: While I don’t love spinning rides, as I have already documented in these newsletters, I do love Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the “disappearing hole” gag at the end of this attraction is one of the most remarkable Imagineering effects I’ve ever seen. An easy win for me.

At last, a round where my vote didn't include a dose of guilt.
