The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round Two, Day Two
In the big, blue world...
Hello, everyone! I hope you’re doing well, and are mentally prepared for more matchups in the second round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket. I also hope you’re ready for these posts to — for the time being, at least — hype up the articles you’re missing if you’re not joining all of your friends as a paid subscriber. (Yes, all of them! I asked them! Don’t ask them yourself!)
For just $5 a month (or $50 a year, if you’re so inclined), you can access articles like this one, where I deep-dive into the world of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs:
But let’s not delay further. Some tough choices — at least one, in my opinion — in today’s polls. Let’s dive right in!

(4) Splash Mountain (WDW) vs. (36) Happily Ever After: This one isn’t the tough choice, though if you’re a big fan of fireworks, you may be puzzling over which one to choose. For now, at least, I’m still going to vote for the Walt Disney World version of Splash Mountain. There is the controversial source material on which the ride is based, and there is acknowledging that the ride itself is inventive and thrilling. For now, the latter wins out.
How do you vote?
Splash Mountain (WDW)
Happily Ever After
(13) Dinosaur vs. (20) Maelstrom: Two one-word attractions from Walt Disney World, one that probably should be updated and the other that…well, sadly was updated so much that it got entirely redone. (How it is that there are even scant references to the 2000 film Dinosaur in the ride of the same name kind of amazes me. Most people probably don’t realize that animated dinosaur is from a film!) Maelstrom gets my vote here. Part of it is that Dinosaur has a very similar ride system to Indiana Jones Adventure, which I vastly prefer. Part of it is that…well, hell, I just miss Maelstrom.
What do you think?
(5) Expedition Everest vs. (28) Dumbo the Flying Elephant (WDW): I hate to say goodbye to Dumbo, but I don’t hate it so much that I am voting for the little fella. Expedition Everest is one of the cleverest roller-coasters I’ve experienced, and that’s in spite of the fact (or perhaps because of the fact) that the damn Yeti effect never works. A really fun attraction, and…listen, Dumbo has a second chance to advance later in this round anyway.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant (WDW)
(12) World of Color vs. (21) Finding Nemo The Musical: So, the tough choice. Again, it’s tough for me. For you, it might be simple. Both of these musical attractions are a lot of fun, and of course, Finding Nemo the Musical has the benefit of allowing me to sit down for a spell, whereas you do not have that comfort with World of Color. (If you wait long enough to get a good spot, you can sit on the ground, but it’s the ground.)
The difference is going to be the music, though, and that’s why I’ll be voting here — just barely — for World of Color. Taking a fountain show a la the Bellagio in Las Vegas was a novel idea, but adding in Disney songs and characters was a touch of brilliance. I adore the soundtrack for this show — my wife would attest, but I listen to entirely too much Disney background music — and that’s enough to get my vote.
But how do you weigh in?
