Did you know that 30 years ago today, Jurassic Park opened in theaters? And that few filmmakers have ever managed to top Steven Spielberg in blending live action and CG effects in the three decades since?
And that…OK, neither of those things have anything to do with today’s matchups in the first round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket? Well, you probably knew that much. Let’s dive in!
(3) Rise of the Resistance vs. (62) Flik’s Fun Fair: While I do want to clarify that when I say Flik’s Fun Fair, I do mean that you should vote on the entirety of the now-defunct land from Disney California Adventure…I mean, we all know Rise of the Resistance is winning this matchup. It’s not fair, but then, any first-round ride facing this remarkable E-ticket is unfair.
Rise of the Resistance
Flik’s Fun Fair
(30) Snow White’s Enchanted Wish vs. (35) Remember Dreams Come True: Out of principle, I will be voting for Remember Dreams Come True, the fairly long-in-the-tooth fireworks nighttime spectacular at Disneyland. What principle, you may ask? Well, I very much enjoyed the dark ride called Snow White’s Scary Adventures. But Snow White’s Enchanted Wish is softened and unnecessarily modernized. I will here be a fusty old-timer. I liked it when it was darker. What can I tell you?
Now, what can you tell me? Vote!
Snow White’s Enchanted Wish
Remember Dreams Come True
(14) It’s A Small World (WDW) vs. (51) Mariachi Divas: At some point, I will vote against It’s A Small World, especially since I prefer the version from Disneyland more (the layout both in the queue area and inside are different at each park). But for now, I’ll stick with the creepy talking dolls, because, as I have already mentioned in this newsletter, sometimes, it’s just nice to relax and sit on your keister.
How do you vote?
It’s a Small World (WDW)
Mariachi Divas
(19) Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage vs. (46) Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland: As you already know, I am a Tall Person. And as you may guess, I have experienced Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland. It’s cramped (by nature of being in a submarine) and also, the odor can often be unpleasant because…well, it’s cramped and you’re at a theme park.
So while I never rode the Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland, it gets my vote today out of that old saw, principle.
How about you?
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland
If this were Disneyland's Small World I'd vote for it but WDW's version is basically purgatory.
