Recent news stories have helped ensure that today’s set of matchups in the first round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket are going to be even more timely than ever!

(8) Rock’n’Roller Coaster vs. (57) Princess Fairytale Hall: I am not entirely convinced that a Muppet retheming of the Rock’n’Roller Coaster is the best idea, though we know now that the creators of the Muppet Mayhem streaming series had the Dr. Teeth/roller-coaster combo as part of their overall pitch to Disney.

For the purposes of this matchup, I will be voting for the darkened coaster, and I do think that the ride needs a revamp, since it’s a very 1990s experience at the moment. Just not convinced that the Muppets are the right way to go. But hey, enough of me — what do you think?

(25) Swiss Family Treehouse vs. (40) Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue: OK, so remember when I said in the FAQs of the first day of the bracket that anything counted as long as you couldn’t eat there? Well, I lied. The Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue is a dinner show, so…yes, eating does factor in. I know the show has some dedicated fans, and perhaps enough of you will send it to the second round! I like a good old-fashioned treehouse, so the Swiss Family Robinson and their abode gets my vote.

(9) Grizzly River Run vs. (56) Hook and Ladder Company: Grizzly Peak is one of my favorite areas of the Disneyland Resort, and arguably the most underrated land in either park in Anaheim. So, whether or not you agree with that commentary, you will not be surprised to learn I’m voting for Grizzly River Run against a firehouse-themed Disneyland band.

(24) Autopia vs. (41) Storytelling at Royal Theatre: The recurring theme of these matchups is that I am a Tall Person, and I tend to vote against rides I feel are painful to experience due to my height. And so you will not be surprised to learn I’m voting for the daily Storytelling shows at the Royal Theatre in Fantasy Faire, if only to vote against Autopia.
