My gut says this will be very close- I voted for Tower, but honestly more out of my love for The Twilight Zone than anything else.

How great is it that Disney went all-in on theming a massive new ride to a TV show that had been off the air for 30 years?!? They’d never even consider that nowadays.

Not only was it a TV show that had been off-air for 30 years, it was one that they didn't even own!

Both of these rides had totally different concepts planned before they became the versions we know and love. Pirates was supposed to be a walkthrough museum that would probably be fodder for nostalgic Disneyland blogs and not much else, but was able to turn into one of Walt’s last great additions as a dark ride. Meanwhile, Tower almost became a Young Frankenstein attraction until Mel Brooks suggested a Twilight Zone theme instead, turning the ride into one of a handful of Eisner’s truly great contributions to the company.

I feel like you can’t go wrong with either, really.

I still dream about what the Mel Brooks Tower would have been like to ride.

Maybe something like David S Pumpkins

I've never heard this about "Tower almost became a Young Frankenstein attraction"...

God I love Tower of Terror so fucking much. But Pirates is just distilled essence of a Disney Park to me and so I gotta go with it

Have to go with Pirates. It is always our first ride when we get to Disney, often our last ride before we leave as well. And while I appreciate the theming of Tower of Terror I hate heights and the drop just makes me want to vomit every time.
