The Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction Bracket -- Round One, Day Eleven
Keep an eye out for some wild animals on your left.
As I type these words, I am steeling myself for something I honestly didn’t think was possible: watching yet another new Indiana Jones movie in theaters (thanks to the fortune of being on early-invite press lists). Disney has been talking about this for nearly a decade, and now it’s a reality. Fingers crossed it’s good.
But let’s also hope that today’s matchups in the first round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket engenders exciting conversation, huh? Let’s go!
(4) Kilimanjaro Safaris vs. (61) Star Wars Launch Bay (DL): We start with another slam-dunk affair. Yes, the two Launch Bays are a bit different, but there’s only one place to experience a safari-like adventure. I would argue that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a largely underrated theme park, with or without the presence of the world of Avatar. Kilimanjaro Safaris is an easy win here.
…Right?

(29) Prince Charming Regal Carrousel vs. (36) Wishes: A carousel (with an extra “r”) against a fireworks show. Seeding aside, this one’s fairly easy for me too. Wishes gets my vote. How about you?

(13) Mission Space vs. (52) Fantasy in the Sky: The first time my wife and I braved the more intense of the two ride options in Mission: Space, she was much braver than I in being willing to do it at all. I’d read enough horror stories to make me wary, but once the ride was over, it was my wife who had to lay down on a bench for 15 minutes because of how intense it was.
And that’s why I’m voting for Fantasy in the Sky. What do you think?

(20) Incredicoaster vs. (45) Minnie’s House: Incredicoaster is not going to last long in this bracket, if I have anything to say about it. But against the walkthrough of Minnie’s House in Mickey’s Toontown, Incredicoaster gets my vote. For now, it lives. For now.

Heck with Pandora; Kilimanjaro Safaris is my absolute rope-drop *and* Lightning Lane priority at AK! Animals are just so great. 🥰
And I love a carousel, but I will never stop missing Wishes!
I'm one of those lucky kids who got to go to Space Camp. They put us in one of those spinning gyroscope things and told us about 100 times "DO NOT MOVE YOUR HEAD" because if you do the spinning will cause the fluid in your ear to shift and you'll get very dizzy/nauseous. But if you keep your head still, since it's roughly in the center of the gyroscope the fluids won't really shift much and you won't feel dizzy almost at all when you get off the thing.
So when Mission Space opened I recalled that knowledge and kept my head pinned to the back of the seat, and it worked! But I was 20 years old at the time. I've ridden it a few more times in my 30s, and despite doing the same thing I now feel kinda dizzy and need to sit down for 5-10 minutes. So I've determined that the ride (the intense version at least, I've never tried the mild one) is just a young person's ride. If my week of NASA kid training wasn't enough to ride it without side effects as a "real adult" (sorry 20-somethings), I don't think anything can.
Anyway, I still voted for it because I'm just not a big fireworks fan, and it is very technically impressive.
