The King and I: come for “shall we dance” and “getting to know you”, stay for the WTF-am-I-watching Uncle Tom’s Cabin adaptation. Eeesh.

I actually enjoyed The Last Five Years (it's probably the best movie that could be made from the musical), but if it loses to Judy's greatest performance in A Star is Born, I will riot.

2011 Muppets over The King and I?? Jason Segel over Yul Brenner? Miss Piggy over Deborah Kerr? I don't get it. Sure, the story is colonialist, the gender discussion is laughable, and the yellow-face is repugnant. And if this were up against, say, The Muppets Take Manhattan, I might understand. But the 2011 Muppets?? I mean it's fine, I guess. I haven't really thought about it since I saw it. And I own the entire Muppet Show on DVD and watch it regularly with my kids. Still, just for the score alone, The King and I should outweigh its competition. Oh well, I'll just pull up the triumphant ballet from An American in Paris and then go watch Judy destroy The Man That Got Away to soothe my sorrows...

I think there’s an argument for Russell Crowe in Les Miz being one of the wildest and worst casting decisions in recent memory. I overall liked the rest of the movie, but he is just so, so terrible.

Looks like that rare round where every one of my votes will lose!!

(As time goes on, my love for the Les Miserables film (Crowe aside) feels more and more lonely. Ah, well.)

(And I’m just that kind of (50-year old) theater kids that is ALL IN for Jason Robert Brown, and this show in particular, so there it is.)

Same but I have an even more peculiar opinion - Crowe was fine; it was Jackman who didn't have the vocal skill to nail the role. Bring Him Home hurts my ears every time I watch the film.

¿Por qué ambos cantantes no pueden ser terribles?

Of course they can be, I just didn't think Crowe was as bad as everyone else did.
