Hamilton v. In the Heights. IT'S DAY ONE WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?!?!

Love this bracket, and I think in general the seeding is spot on. (I probably would have put the original West Side Story a bit higher, but that’s just me).

Singin’ in the Rain at #1 is absolutely correct and I can’t imagine voting for anything against it. It’s not only the finest movie musical ever made, it’s one of the flat-out best films ever made, period.

It’s also one of the best science fiction films ever made.

Your response intrigued me so I googled. I love the interpretation, and who am I to argue with Ray Bradbury? I know have a go-to conversation starter with film buffs at parties!

I heard that from him at a lunch learning session my company put on way back in the early 80s and it has always stuck with me

HAMILTON is a better musical. IN THE HEIGHTS is a better movie. I'm not even sure a persuasive argument exists to the contrary.

This is basically my take as well -- I had figured it would be a landslide for that same reason!

Choosing violence early by pitting LMM against himself immediately, I see! 😂

I was in Disneyland this past week and actually had a bracket idea. I’ve often thought the worst attraction to be a cast member is Autopia/Tomorrowland Speedway. In the heat, noisy, gas odors, etc. Probably not the most feasible, but a “best attraction to work at” bracket might be something. Or worst attraction. Full disclosure, I did work at Hollywood Studios (then MGM) and also drove the ferry boats at Magic Kingdom, so it is something I’ve often thought about.

The "best to work at" bracket is definitely an idea! I'm wary of doing a "Worst of" for any type of bracket (as much as I can tend to be cynical and critical).

Paint Your Wagon - great stage musical, lousy movie. Royal Wedding, on the other hand, is absolutely one of my favorites, and every song in it is a banger. I frequently sing "Every Night at Seven" to my wife in our kitchen while she's making dinner.

People are voting for Bohemian Rhapsody? Not many, but . . . really?

Seriously. I get that recency bias is a thing, but it’s against Singin’ in the Rain. Come on.

Looking forward to voting between "Once More, With Feeling" and "Subspace Rhapsody".

Seriously, people are picking a filmed stage show over one of the most fully realized transfers from the stage?

Unless I missed it scrolling through the full bracket, I’m bummed Bohemian Rhapsody is in here but Rocketman isn’t. Rocketman was SO GOOD and beautiful and I cried a lot!!

I’m glad to tell you that you skimmed past it. Rocketman is not well seeded, but it’s in the bracket!

Painful to me that my all time favorite musical, THE GANG’S ALL HERE, is not on the bracket, but very excited to go through this one!

So glad you chose this subject. I watch a lot of Musicals but doubt it is 128 of them. I hope you have my Christmas favorite Albert Finney as Scrooge “Thank you very much” Did a double feature for the 4th of 1776 and Hamilton so wondering if that will show up too. Ok I will check the bracket
