Good morning, friends! Who’s ready for new votes in the first round of the Ultimate TV Comedies Bracket? We have at least two extremely notable sitcoms today, whose reach far extended their runs (and you could argue we have a third similarly notable show).
No time to waste — let’s vote!
(5) The Office (UK) vs. (60) Boy Meets World: I have rewatched a good chunk of Boy Meets World (my wife is a bigger fan of it than I am), and the best part of that series is William Daniels, AKA not the “boy” meeting the world. The Office is just one of two immensely influential shows in today’s matches, but its reach can’t be overstated. David Brent should move ahead.

(28) Undeclared vs. (37) Archer: Again, longevity. Undeclared was a really funny college sitcom, and another preview into the modern comedy of the 21st century just as Freaks and Geeks was. But it lasted for barely any time, whereas Archer apparently just wrapped up its fourteenth and final season. I used to dig Archer, but that was a show that also felt like it could’ve wrapped years ago. I vote for Undeclared.
How about you?

(12) The Larry Sanders Show vs. (53) Happy Days: I have to imagine that it’s going to be an easy walk for Garry Shandling in this match; at the very least, it ought to be. The Larry Sanders Show was pioneering for modern sitcoms, and Happy Days…well, it eventually led to Barry Zuckerkorn giving himself the Fonzie look in the mirror, which is nice.

(21) How I Met Your Mother vs. (44) Mad About You: I just never got into How I Met Your Mother, so it’s a vote for Mad About Shoe—er, sorry, Mad About You today. (Look that reference up if you don’t know it.)

Mad About You
Undeclared is my wife’s choice for “show I really wish had more episodes.”
Mad About You fell HARD in its last few seasons - basically, there was no reason to watch after its third - but seasons two and three remain very underrated with some banger episodes in season three.
