I know I'm alone on this, but I hated the finale of Newhart. First, I find it annoying when shows say "it was made up all along" (see also, St. Elsewhere). Its a show, we know it is made up, its always made up. Second, Newhart was my show, the Bob Newhart Show was my parents' show. I didn't like being told that thing I liked wasn't as good as the thing my parents liked. So vote for Newhart
You're not alone. The "it was all a dream" trope has always bothered me. Other writers seem to feel the same way, as evidenced by the parody included in the "Breaking Bad" finale's extras. THAT was classic; the "Newhart" finale was not.
Bob Newhart is one of the all-time funniest TV actors.
