Having done a Cheers rewatch not that long ago, I've come to the conclusion that it's much less consistent — primarily in the Rebecca years — than we tend to remember it. Whereas Simpsons has a decade of greatness, then some patchy periods, then some excellent periods, including the most recent stretch. It's gotta be The Simpsons.
I will freely admit that I prefer the first five seasons to the back six of Cheers; I like the idea of Rebecca first being so fully resistant to Sam's charms that he almost goes loopy at trying to woo her, but enjoy the character less so as she's the one who essentially loses her mind in one sense or another. But those first five seasons I think are still remarkably solid! It's a tough choice.
I agree completely. It's hard not to fault The Simpsons for all the weaker episodes, but I remember the Kirstie Alley years of Cheers very well and how that series suffered as a result of the replacement and new dynamic. Voting for The Simpsons still feels a little weird, since I rarely watch it now and have a few issues with some of the longtime cast members. But its status as an all-time classic show, full of creativity and character development (despite the fact that time stands still in Springfield) cannot be denied.
Got to be consistent. The first seven years of Cheers were a notch below The Simpsons. The whole body of work of Cheers is better than the endless body (corpse?) of The Simpsons.

This was maybe the most difficult final matchup of any bracket I’ve voted in.

Really, by my logic Fawlty Towers should win.
Cheers on account of it's home field advantage. Nobody ever says "I wish you lots of holiday Simpson" at this time of year.
I never saw the early seasons of Cheers, just some of the final years. Enjoyable group of characters.
I’ve watched many many seasons of The Simpsons, and that’s almost always excellent to me. Vote yellow!
Two excellent theme songs too!
Never watched Cheers so this is easy for me 😅
