The Ultimate TV Comedies Bracket -- Round Two, Day Eight
Hey, folks! It’s the final day of the second round of the Ultimate TV Comedies bracket, which means it’s time for my final reminder that the bracket is going on a brief hiatus after today until Monday, November 27. I hope you’re all ready for the big holiday, but I also hope you’re ready to make four more choices today. Which four shows should survive to the round of 32 seeds? Which shows should be sent packing?

(3) Seinfeld vs. (35) What We Do in the Shadows: I know that What We Do in the Shadows is a well-liked cult comedy, but Seinfeld is Seinfeld. I’m not even the biggest fan of the NBC show, but I think we all know who’s winning today. (Festivus fans, that’s who.)
What We Do in the Shadows
(14) Black Adder vs. (46) Will and Grace: Among its many qualities, Will and Grace also boasted a remarkable array of guest stars, some of whom are in the video below. But Black Adder and its following seasons had plenty of recognizable faces. Just look at the video below, as Dr. House and Rubeus Hagrid make chitchat!
(Seriously, I implore you to vote for Black Adder. A better show by far.)
Will and Grace
(6) Veep vs. (27) Murphy Brown: One of today’s thematic arcs is a lot of acidic, dark humor in shows like Seinfeld and Black Adder and also Veep. But this specific matchup also feels appropriate as two generational, immensely talented female performers go head to head. Is Julia Louis-Dreyfus going to show up twice in the next round? Could we even be in store for a Seinfeld vs. Veep showdown at some point? Well…I kind of imagine Veep is winning here.
What do you think?
(11) Taxi vs. (22) Maude: Honestly, I’m going to keep voting for Taxi becuse of the “What does a yellow light mean?” bit, as long as I can. (I know that’s not linked below, but still.) Maude was an important show, of course, but I’d rather see Bea Arthur in the next round because of The Golden Girls.
