I like seeing The Drew Carey Show ahead so far, but I’m not sure how long its lead will last as its not nearly as widely available as Sex and the City. But it’s delightfully absurd, as close to a live-action cartoon that you can get that even Daffy Duck showed up at one point.
Just a brutal seeding for Superstore, which I think is one of the best sitcoms of the past decade (and the only one to truly capture the absurdity of pandemic life.)
I wouldn’t call 99 the BEST show in the Schur-verse (there’s a spirited debate to be had between Parks and Good Place), but I do maintain that it’s the funniest and most rewatchable.
The nice thing about this bracket is that I'll have plenty of opinions (for instance, I think Superstore is significantly better than B99), but I don't care nearly as much about these opinions as I do about my musical opinions.
Yeah, The Drew Carey show is great fun with wonderfully wacky characters and a good heart.
And Josh, starting out putting Superstore against Brooklyn 99, well... damn it, dude. Stop that! I've rewatched both shows once. Both are fantastic workplace sitcoms with high jokes-per-minute tallies. Superstore got my vote in a literal toss-up.
How you didn’t use the Backstreet Boys cold open for 99, I can’t fathom, unless you’re saving it.
It’ll be interesting to see how some of this stuff stacks up. I could see a way that Golden Girls knocks out the Simpsons, for instance. I thought about the Cosby Show, which if not for Bill being a horrible human being I’d have ranked a lot higher - that was my childhood sitcom family. As I scrolled through this, I saw more tough choices than I expected! Looking forward to this one :)

Was coming here to say the same thing. A truly brilliant show.

Your Community reference in the post title has not gone unnoticed.
Will be stumping for this under appreciated work of genius for as long as it lasts.
I will join you in your blanket fort to support the cause.
i'm more of a Pillowtown man myself, but I'll be there.
That is BRUTAL pitting Superstore & Brooklyn 99 in the first round 2 of my favorite and most rewatched comfort comedies
