The Ultimate Walt Disney Company Performances Bracket -- Round Five, Day One
You poor unfortunate soul.
Friends, it’s the weekend! I hope you’re bursting into your weekend with the same passion that is evident in the picture above this paragraph. And I hope you’re doing better than the folks at Marvel (who I know are doing just fine, but boy, those Ant-Man numbers ain’t too hot).
You may be doing as well as the surviving members of the Ultimate Walt Disney Company Performances bracket, too! They are better known as the Sweet Sixteen, and you can see how the bracket shakes out right here.
And yes, that’s right: your eyes do not deceive you. Bob Hoskins has been eliminated from the bracket, which I only mention because it means that truly, anyone here can win the whole kit and kaboodle. (Hoskins was the only actor to have won two different brackets, and he won’t be getting a hat trick here.) We’re now down to two matchups a day as you decide who to send to the Elite Eight. Ready? Let’s go!
(16) Pat Carroll, The Little Mermaid vs. (5) Tim Curry, Muppet Treasure Island: While I very much enjoy both of these performances, and they are both seafaring villains of a sort, I do not have any hesitation here: it’s got to be Tim Curry as Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island. I don’t disagree that “Poor Unfortunate Souls” is a better song, but Curry is full of brio and gusto in throwing himself completely into the iconically evil pirate.
It’s Long John for me. How about you?
(2) Amy Adams, Enchanted vs. (35) Sterling Holloway, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Photos do not always tell the whole story, my friends. That’s the enigmatic way of saying that I’m not voting for Sterling Holloway, in spite of the picture above this paragraph. Yes, I’m afraid (not really) that I will have to vote for Amy Adams here. I was recently looking back at the first round of 256 seeds, and asking myself who I would have sent as far as possible. And here’s what I know: in my Elite Eight? Tim Curry vs. Amy Adams. We might just get there, friends.
But it’s up to you. So vote!
