Grosse Pointe Blank is the beginning of John Cusack’s career-best trifecta in the late 90’s, followed by Being John Malkovich in ‘99 and High Fidelity in 2000 (there are lesser films in between because the guy was working a LOT at that point).

I won’t speak against Heath Ledger, whose talent was apparent the moment he first appear on screen, but my vote is for Cusack here because it doesn’t look like he’s up for Malkovich later and Ledger’s best work is in other films.

Also I’m one of those late Gen-Xers.

Oh yes, worshipping at the altar of Cusack here too. Grosse Pointe Blank is a film I will always stop and watch, no matter how many times I've already seen it. I hate being pigeonholed this way--I am more than my generation, thanks--but I suppose it fits in this case. Nothing against Heath Ledger, who has turned in some phenomenal performances, but this isn't one of them.

Jonathan Freeman wasn’t just in the original Broadway cast, he stayed in the role for EIGHT YEARS! He was there for the workshop, he was there opening night, and he stayed there until 2022.

That is incredibly cool. Talk about loving a role. He is Jafar at this point.
