Well, there’s no need to beat around the bush. As the photo above implies, we have a winner in the Ultimate Walt Disney Company Performances bracket. Where once there were 256 seeds, there was just one victor, and she remains practically perfect in every way.
Yes, friends, many congratulations go to Julie Andrews, whose performance as the title character in Mary Poppins netted her that most important trophy of all: bragging rights in this bracket, since she’d never won any of these before today. (And also an Oscar, I guess.)
Now comes the next question, which I’m sure is burning a hole in your brains, one and all: what’s next?
Well, here’s the thing: I do have a fair few more bracket ideas up my sleeve, and a fair few of those prepped to go, if I so wish. But a) I would like to take a break from brackets for at least a couple weeks, and b) …if I’m being honest, the lower amount of votes here compared to Twitter makes me wonder if continuing to prep these ad nauseam (ad hominem? I forget which is which) is something I want to keep doing.
I have no interest in bringing the brackets back to Twitter, especially since that site continues its gradual dip in quality and usability. (Am I a little shocked it’s still around months after Musk bought it? Kinda? But it’s not exactly doing great.) Maybe I do just need a couple weeks off! (And feel free to let me know if you care enough to see the brackets continue, seeing as a couple of the non-supersized options I had planned are either more esoteric, like theme-park background music, or branching out beyond the world of Disney.)
For now, let’s say it’s a break of a couple weeks or so from brackets. I’ll pop in periodically to link you to some of my work elsewhere in the meantime. So keep an eye out, and until then, I’ll see you (on Twitter and the like) when I see you.
Keep ‘em coming! 😊
I love the brackets but find it harder to vote everyday here on substack- maybe to both lighten your load and help with the move to substack make them 48 hr polls instead of 24 hr?
