Who else is ready for the weekend? I know I am, especially after the first week back from a lengthy vacation. (I’m partially ready for the weekend because it means I can finally see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in theaters.)
But weekend or not, we have more matchups in the first round of the Ultimate Disney Parks Attraction bracket to get to. Let’s not waste any more time!
(7) Space Mountain (DL) vs. (58) Star Wars Launch Bay (WDW): This is a slam-dunk for Space Mountain. While it’s true that I have not directly experienced the Walt Disney World version of Star Wars Launch Bay, Space Mountain is…well, it’s Space Mountain. There are aesthetic differences between the two roller-coasters on the two coasts, but we don’t need to discuss those just yet. For now, let’s all make the logical and sane choice and vote for the big mountain.

(26) Mickey and the Magical Map vs. (39) Flights of Wonder: I’ll be honest, this one’s a toughie for me. Before it closed and got refashioned into an Up-related bird show, I did get a chance to see Flights of Wonder in person at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I am arguably a sucker for live-animal shows, especially those featuring birds, so maybe that’s what makes this difficult. Mickey and the Magical Map was a charming show in and of itself (though it’s sadly gone away in part because of the pandemic). But did it have birds?!? Live ones?!?
Seriously, it’s a coin flip for me. I might lean towards Flights of Wonder. How about you?

(10) Impressions de France vs. (55) Toy Story Mania (WDW): So, two points. First, remember that the seeding doesn’t really mean that much, if you are wondering why Toy Story Mania (and when did it lose the “Midway” at Disney World? I don’t like that) is seeded so low. But second, I love, love, love Impressions de France. This Circle-Vision-style travelogue is one of my favorite Walt Disney World memories. So I did rank that attraction high on purpose.
And yes, that does mean I’m going to be voting for it here. At the very least, I will note that there will be other Toy Story attractions you can vote for. There is only one beautiful, haunting, hypnotic film called Impressions de France. Do ze right thing.
Impressions de France
Toy Story Mania (WDW)
(23) It’s Tough to be a Bug vs. (42) Ellen’s Energy Adventure: If you have not watched the video for Ellen’s Energy Adventure, I can’t recommend it highly enough if only so you can get a sense of the inexplicable cast for this 40-minute hybrid of film and ride. I’ll be voting for this lengthy show if only because…well, it’s longer than It’s Tough to be a Bug and sometimes, you like to get a good rest from the constant walking around. But these do have at least one similarity, in that they each feature cast members from Seinfeld and…ah, I’ve spoiled too much.
Watch the videos. Then vote!
It’s Tough to be a Bug
Ellen’s Energy Adventure
There are few experiences funnier than watching It’s Tough to be a Bug with a theater full of first timers. If the wasps don’t get them, then the bugs exiting the theater first will.
Real ones will vote for Impressions. Still sad that it has to share space with the mediocre Beauty and the Beast singalong.
