"Beauty and the Beast" is great, but "The Sound of Music" deserves this win.

Very pity that I miss this round and didn't vote😢…

But The Sound of Music must lose this round, because it's not a Disney movie.

Maybe this is a controversial opinion, but The Sound of Music is vastly overrated compared to other Rogers and Hammerstein shows. Julie Andrews elevates it, but without her... eh.

I think the popular consensus is that Sound of Music is one of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s weaker productions, but has easily their strongest film adaptation.

We happen to watch SoM at least twice a month because my disabled son loves Julie Andrews 😆. I cringe at the old time lyrics of “when you’re 16” and the reprise. I vote for the Beast.

Wow. Ashman's lyrics for BatB are better than Hammerstein's/Rodgers' for SoM. Them's fightin' words!

First, to get the obvious out of the way: without Hammerstein there is no Ashman.

Second, Edelweiss is so perfectly written that many people assumed it was truly an Austrian folk song.

Third, Rodgers actually wrote some wonderful lyrics for Something Good and I Have Confidence.

Fourth, Do Re Mi is actually a solidly functional music teaching tool that kept Solfege relevant for a few more decades.

I adore Beauty and the Beast. And I love The Sound of Music (I'm actually partial to the stage musical, but I've done hundreds of performances in my life as an actor and as a musician).

Beauty and the Beast is a wonderful movie musical. The Sound of Music could be argued to BE THE movie musical.

And for the record, this is always super fun. Thanks, Josh!

I love beauty and the beast but there's NO WAY it's a better musical film than the sound of music
